Bahá'í Events in Second Life

Bahá'í Insights on Spiritual Growth:

Time: Fridays at 6:00 pm SLT (Second Life Time = Pacific Time)
A well-attended event at the Baha'i Center of SL
What do the Baha'i Writings say about the purpose of life, human nature, the afterlife, spirituality, and others? Join us in an easy-going atmosphere as we discuss the teachings of Baha'u'llah, written from exile and prison to the modern world. Your inputs are welcome to deepen the understanding of all.

Multifaith Prayer Circles:

Weekly Interfaith Prayer Circles are held on Fridays at 5:30 pm SLT, just before the discussion event, at the Lotus Temple across the garden from the Baha'i Center. The building is an artistic rendering of the Baha'i Temple in New Delhi, India, by Jesahel Layli Newton, a Baha'i 3D digital designer.

Participants share prayers and writings from diverse faith traditions, many taken from multifaith, multilingual prayer books on the center table. The temple grounds stream unaccompanied coral renditions of the Baha'i Writings, from which nine quotes around the inside of the building were also taken.

Efforts are being made to encourage other groups in SL to host their own Interfaith Prayer Circles on different sims and schedules, through the Interfaith Prayer Network.

World Religion Day:

The third Sunday of January every year, the Bahá'í community of Second Life joins the UU Library of World Religions in organizing a World Religion Day celebrations, featuring multi-faith panels on topics such as religion as a source of social change, the environment, and prayer.

This yearly event attracts up to 50 participants from around the world, and is quickly becoming a tradition in Second Life, which people look forward to and prepare for months in advance,

Baha'i Consultation Meetings:

As required, the Baha'i community of Second Life gathers to consult on the achievements, plans and progress of the project in both voice and text.

These meetings begin and end with prayers, and are characterized by warm companionship among the friends in their eagerness to make the best use of this wonderful medium that God has provided humanity for His service.
